Rick S. Graveen

Rick S. Graveen, 51, Wausau, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born June 3, 1962 in Milwaukee, the son of DuWayne A. and Bonnie J. (Hintz) Graveen. On June 14, 1984, he married Mary Gorski at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church. She survives. Rick was a 1980 graduate of Wausau West High School. He furthered his education at Northcentral Technical College, where he received a degree in Police Science and completed his education at the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy in Fort McCoy. In July of 1998, he began his working career as a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper and was currently employed as a State Patrol Inspector. Rick was a member of the National Guard. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed skiing, kayaking and hunting and he also enjoyed fishing with his new step-grandson, Jordan. He also loved cars and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Rick especially loved spending time with his three nephews and his many good friends. Survivors include, his wife of 30 years, Mary Graveen, Wausau; one son, Jason (Jennifer) Kummerow, Kronenwetter; his parents, DuWayne and Bonnie Graveen, Rib Mountain; one step-grandson, Jordan Russell; one brother, Mark Graveen, Wausau; one sister, Kim (J.J.) Manowksi, Mosinee; three nephews, Devon, Eyan, and Jake Manowski; his father-in-law, David Gorski, Schofield; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Anabelle Gorski. Funeral services will be at Noon on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Highland Community Church, Wausau. Rev. Dave Mahler will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the church and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
