Richard J. Geier

Richard "Dickie" Geier Richard J. Geier, 75, 500 Fred Street, Rothschild passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born May 17, 1934 in Wausau, son of the late Cliff and Helen (Ritchie) Geier. On May 21, 1959 he married Geraldine Zunker in Wausau. She preceded him in death on June 15, 1987. Dickie worked at Weyerhaeuser Co. for more than 43 years, retiring from the pulp mill in 1999. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his family at the shack and cottage in his younger years. One of his greatest joys was Morgan, his granddaughter, who held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed following football and baseball, in addition to spending time with friends at "The Hole". Dickie had an uncanny sense of humor and was always quick with witty comments. These traits provided years of laughter and many memories, some of these most memorable tales were of "FH" and his brother Pat on casino trips. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air force. Survivors include his children Michael Geier, Rothschild, Jeffrey (Brenda) Geier, Weston, Kelly (Larry) Crum, Wausau, and Jody (Shaun) Bestul, Hatley, three grandchildren, Morgan Geier and Jackie and Brian Crum and two brothers, James Geier and Ronald (Jody) Geier, both of Hatley. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Geier. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial with Military rites will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau at a later date. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
