Raymond J. Myszka

Raymond J. Myszka, 92, Marathon passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 26, 1924 in Athens, son of the late Jacob and Mary (Nowicki) Myszka. On July 10, 1945 he married Eldora Weisenberger at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2010. Raymond worked for Crestline in Wausau, The Great A & P Milk Company in Marathon for 17 years and at Green Bay Packaging Co. for 17 years until he retired in 1986. He along with his sons, painted many barns in his earlier years. Ray loved polka dancing at Rib River and Poplar Tree Ballroom with his wife Eldora and his many friends. He especially liked the Romy Gosz Band, The Dick Rodgers Band and the Hayes Boys. Two of his favorite songs were the Springtime Waltz and Circling Pigeons Laendler. Ray enjoyed carpentry work, gardening, fishing and playing his Hohner Button accordion and watching the Big Joe Polka Show on T.V. Most special to Ray's heart was the ability for him to be an excellent caregiver to his wife Eldora for 32 years. "We will never forget that Dad." Survivors include his children, Janice (James) Buchberger, Marathon, Duane (Suzzett) Myszka, Marathon, Jerome (Linda) Myszka, California, Donna Mae (James) Martin, Stevens Point, Larry Myszka, Tomahawk, Lyle (Betty) Myszka, Marathon, Donald (Lynnette) Myszka, Mosinee and Linda (Lloyd) Beckman, Wausau. Raymond was the cherished grandfather of Stacy (Shawn) Stubbe, Mosinee and their children, Natasha, Justin and Amanda; Brian Myszka, Marathon, and his children, Haley, Alexis and Courtney; Chad Myszka, Marathon and his children, RaeAnna and Jace; Jessie (Dan Rony) Myszka, Portland, OR and their daughter, Evelyn; Abbey (Patrick) Ryss, Oakland, Calif; Katie (David) Wolf, Oakland, Calif and their daughter, Olive; Emmy Myszka-Ramirez, Santa Rosa, Calif; and her son, Louis; Wendy (Corey) Hackman, Plover, and their children, Casey, Emily, Mikayla and Alex; Jeffrey (Stacey) Martin, Stevens Point and their children, Abbey and Logan; Sarah (Craig) Hutchinson, Yuma, AZ; and their children, Kyra and Reese, McKinzie (Luke) Foth, Madison and their son Linus; Melissa (Steve) Schreiber, Wausau and their children Maisyn and Andersen, Jayme (Victoria) Myszka, Edgar and their children, Samantha, Valerie and Izabella; Laura (Neal) Volkman, Marathon and their children, Katelyn, Madelyn and Jocelyn; Wesley (Nicole) Myszka, Marathon and their children, Maycie and Kamrie; Greg Myszka, (Ashley) Mosinee and their son Asher, Nathan (Maggie) Myszka, Washington, D.C., and their son, Jack, Faith (Rick) Stengl, Mosinee, and their children, Lillian and William; and Erin Myszka, Milwaukee. Ray is further survived by a special friend, Bernice Passehl, Athens and his in-laws, Helen Strasser, Edgar, Joan Weisenberger, Kronenwetter, William Weisenberger Jr., Wausau and Catherine Myszka, Edgar and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three grandsons, Robby Myszka, Brian Buchberger and Thomas Myszka, two brothers, Edward Myszka and David Myszka, two sisters, Margaret Koskey and Bernice Pinter. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
