Oscar Walter Paul
81, Edgar, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 in the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 1, 1923 in the town of Rib Falls, son of the late Walter and Alice (Ringle) Paul. On May 11, 1949, he married his beloved Rita Schueller at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. She survives.
During his career farming, he loved working the land, caring for the animals, and teaching his children how to love, laugh, work, and play. You could often find Oscar driving tractor in the field or playing ball with his kids. For many years, Oscar served the town of Rib Falls as Town Supervisor.
During his retirement, Oscar traveled the US with his wife. Favorite places included Branson, MS, Canada, and traveling through the Smoky Mountains. Oscar also loved riding his four-wheeler and grooming the trails for his four-wheeler club. Besides having morning coffee with friends and catching up on the local news during the week, he loved to spend time with all his family, visiting, attending graduations, awards ceremonies, and helping out with projects as a "supervisor".
Besides his beloved wife, Rita Paul, Edgar; survivors include their fourteen children, Linda (Michael) King, Edgar, John (Donna) Paul, Wausau, Henry Paul, Edgar, Karen (John) Peters, Rudolph, Christine (Robert) Krautkramer, Marathon, Therese (Richard) Salber, Marathon, Joseph (Diane) Paul, Edgar, Thomas (Nicki) Paul, Edgar, June (Kevin) King, Edgar, Peter (Marcia) Paul, Edgar, Stephen (Lou Ann) Paul, Marathon, Kenneth Paul, Edgar, Mark (Tracy) Paul, Edgar, & Ann (Brian) Ahrens, Marathon; thirty-seven, grandchildren, Patrick, Carol, and Scott King, Matthew, Melinda, and Michael Paul, Catherine and Benjamin Peters, Sara, Wendy, and Julie Krautkramer, Jason, Jessica, Amy, Joseph, Aaron, and James Salber, Andrew, Daniel, and Nicholas Paul, Chase, Ryan, and Jordan Paul, Nathan, Michelle, Melissa, Angela, and Alycia King, Desiree Rininger, Jennifer and Ashley Paul, Heather and Wade Paul, Rose and Mitchel Paul, and Adam and David Ahrens; one great grandson, Trevor Salber; a brother Merlin (Ruth) Paul, Edgar; two sisters, Norma Schulz, Edgar and Carolla "Pat" (Walter) Gust, Richland Center; a sister-in-law Hilda Paul, Edgar.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Paul and brother-in-law, Alfred Schulz.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Edgar. Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church.
There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service Wednesday evening at the Edgar funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to St. John School, Edgar.
