Orville W. Heinz

Orville W. Heinz 93, Wausau, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 5, 1915 in Jamestown, North Dakota, son of the late William and Pauline (Weber) Heinz. On May 16, 1936 he married Ruth Wangard in Tomahawk. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2002. Most recently Orville worked as a service manager at Marathon Electric retiring in 1981. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Orville was involved with the Civil Air Patrol and later the director of the Wausau Emergency Police. He was one of the founding members of the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus and participated as an usher, lector, parish council member, altar server and member of the Holy Name Society. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and especially spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his children, Orville N. (JoAnn) Heinz, Wausau and Joan Heinz, Wausau; four grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Heinz, West Salem, Jeff (Diane) Heinz, Ringle, Corey (Roya) Heinz, Merrill and Lori (Darrin Brown) Heinz, Wausau; six great grandchildren, Jonathan and Benjamin Heinz, Alexander and Nicholas Heinz and Jaida and Peyton Heinz; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruth. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Gerald Pehler O.F.M. Cap. will preside. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
