Norman "Red" Hack, 88, Marathon died Saturday, November 1, 2014 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born May 19, 1926 in Wausau, son of the late Edward and Katherine (Sicklinger) Hack. He attended St. Mary's School in Marathon and also was a graduate of Marathon High School in 1943. On October 25, 1958 he married Gladys Stoltz at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2008.
Red was a dairy farmer in the town of Marathon for many years. He and his wife Gladys were proud to have farmed the family homestead until their retirement. Red was an avid bowler, softball player and baseball player and also a true sports fanatic.
Survivors include his children, Mary Hack and Peter Hack, both of Marathon, Kathleen (David) Ostrowski, Weston and Marge (Thomas) Kreager, Aniwa, two grandchildren, Katie Suchomski and John Kreager, two siblings, Kathleen "Sis" Hack, Marathon and Edward (Marcy) Hack, Wausau.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Msgr. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Red's name.
