Nancy A. Blaschka, age 76, Mosinee, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston, surrounded by her family.
She was born February 20, 1937 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Sommers) Matis. On October 8, 1955 she married Kenneth Blaschka at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1989.
Nancy graduated in 1955 from Newman Catholic High School, Wausau, having the distinction of being a member of the first graduating class. She enjoyed fishing, putting together puzzles, listening to Country and Polka music as well as watching the Packers. She also enjoyed visiting the casino, especially the many trips she took to Las Vegas. She was a dedicated banquet coordinator and waitress at the Elks Lodge No. 248, Wausau for 42 years. Nancy loved her work and treasured all of the people she came to know and valued their friendships.
Survivors include her six children, Randy (Sue) Blaschka, Wausau, Sue (Greg) Sattler, Wausau, Mike Blaschka, Mosinee, Phil (Rhonda) Blaschka, Wausau, Dan (Tricia) Blaschka, Sun Prairie, and Patti Blaschka, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Tanner Blaschka, Chris Sattler, Kelly (Cory) Sillars, Jason Blaschka, Shannon Reedy, Paige Blaschka, and Mason and Brennan Blaschka; four siblings, Rose Marie (Vincent) Frittitta, Marlene (Jay) Spiegel, Dale (Nancy) Matis and Peter (Pam) Matis.
Besides her parents and husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her special companion, Francis Weber.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Rev. Don Przybylski will preside. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Friends may call Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. There will be an Elk's Lodge of Sorrow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday followed by a parish vigil service all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the ICU staff at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital for their professional and compassionate care and also to Dr. Chong C. Lee for his continuous special attention and personalized care he gave to Nancy.
