Mary Jane Wyzkowski
78, Wausau, died Tuesday May 29, 2007 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born August 23, 1928, in Wausau, daughter of the late Martin and Laura (Sniegoski) Kumbera. On January 3, 1948, she married the love of her life, Ambrose Wyzkowski, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives.
Mary Jane graduated from Wausau High School in May, 1946 and had been employed at the former St. Mary Hospital and North Central Health Care Facility. She was the former owner of Grama's Store, a craft and antique shop. Giving more than she received was customary for Mary Jane. Among her many causes, she was a supporter of the Relay for Life and proudly wore her survivor's medallions, she also supported the Wausau East High School Eastend players for the past nine years, the Wausau Community Theatre and the Wausau Conservatory of Music. She received the Wausau School District's "Friends of Education Award" for volunteer service at Franklin Elementary. This year, the Franklin Kumbera/Mary Jane Wyzkowski Scholarship was established at Wausau East High School. It was Mary Jane's desire that she would give something to some very deserving young adults.
Survivors include her husband, Ambrose Wyzkowski, Wausau, a son, Michael (Penny) Wiskowski, Wausau, a foster son, James (Roxanne) Brown, Wausau, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) White, Duluth, Minn., and their son, Jacob; Andrew Wiskowski, London, England, Matthew (Elizabeth) Wiskowski, Wausau and their daughter, Haylie; Robert (Danielle) Wiskowski, Wausau, Michael Brown, Wausau, Justin Brown, Wausau, Krystle Brown, Wausau, Kayla Brown, Wausau and Kiara Brown, Wausau. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Conrad, Walter, John, Franklin and Joseph Kumbera.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:15 p.m. Friday June 1, 2007 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Daniel Hackel will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Franklin Kumbera/Mary Jane Wyzkowski Scholarship Fund.
