Marion E. Radtke

February 18, 1921 — November 5, 2011

Marion E. (Kittilstad) Radtke 90, Wausau, died Saturday, November 5, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Applegate Terrace, Wausau. She was born February 18, 1921 in Eau Claire, daughter of the late Oscar and Ann (Glomski) Kittilstad. On June 18, 1949 she married George Radtke in Eau Claire. He survives. In 1942 Marion graduated from the former St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing and began her career here in the pediatric department. She served her country in the United States Army Nurse Corp. serving as a lieutenant during World War II. After leaving the Army she worked as the industrial nurse at Wausau Paper Mills, Brokaw Division for many years. Marion was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and care giver. She was a quiet, patient, kind and positive person. Her many talents included decorating, crafts, gardening, playing piano and organ, cooking and baking. She was an avid reader, enjoyed the challenge of a crossword puzzle, and loved to play board games with her family. Marion and George traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe after George's retirement. She will always be remembered and admired for her inner strength and acceptance of whatever adversity she encountered during her life. Her family will deeply miss her. Survivors include her husband, George, Wausau; daughter, Mary (Don Baur) Radtke-Baur, Wausau; grandson, Jordan Baur, Wausau; brothers, Owen Kittilstad, West Chester, Pennsylvania and Michael (Pat) Kittilstad, Chatham, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Bud) Juedes, Wausau and Dorothy Blanchard, Rockville, Maryland; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by infant son Mark, son, Bill, brothers, Bill, Jack and Jim Kittilstad and sister, Jeanne Connelly. Funeral service will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. Marion's family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Applegate Terrace and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their compassion and care during her illness.
