Margaret "Marge" Peterson

Margaret “Marge” Peterson, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

She was born October 23, 1934, in Wausau, daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Sniegoski) Jakubowski.  Marge married Eugene “Pete” Peterson on August 27, 1994 in a beautiful backyard ceremony.

Marge’s life revolved around raising her children and caring for her home. She eventually returned to the work force to continue to provide for her family.  Marge worked at Wausau Insurance until retirement.  In retirement, outside of spending time with family, she was happiest in her yard, tending her flowers or enjoying a cup of coffee on her deck while listening to a Brewers game.

Marge and Pete enjoyed many years of couples bowling, bicycling around town, and sitting under the grand white pines of Marathon Park.  She also enjoyed taking long walks with friends around Rib Mountain, playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles.  Marge was a devout Catholic her entire life and an active and valued member of Holy Name Catholic Church.  Through many of life’s challenges, her faith never wavered.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene “Pete;” children, Sandra (Scott) Meier, Debra (Scott) Kufahl, Steven (Peggy) Rasmussen and Dina (Renee) Rasmussen-Spear; grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Everts, Sarah Welch, Eric (Danielle) Meier and Aaron (Ashley) Meier; great-grandchildren, Mason Everts, Lily Everts, Wyatt Welch, Emma Welch, Corbin Meier, Dylan Turner, Ava Meier, Miley Meier; sister, Mary Stachowiak.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Virginia Buchholz and Anne Birkholz and a grandson-in-law, Jesse Welch.

Funeral services will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church on Thursday, March 14, 2024.  Visitation begins at 10:00 am.  Mass begins at 1:00 pm. followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau.  Father Samuel Martin will preside.
