Lorraine Litzer passed away at age 92 in her home under the loving care of her family in Schofield on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Lorraine was born in Plover, WI on July 2, 1929, to the late John and Melva (Cater) Vercimak. Lorraine was the first of two children. Her brother, John (Kathy) Vercimak of Schofield survives. On November 12, 1946 Lorraine married Edward R Litzer in Wausau, WI. He preceded Lorraine in death in 1980.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters Carlo (William) Ferge of Marshfield, and Patricia (Fred) Ohlmann of Merrill; and her sons Edward J (Dori) Litzer of Salem OR, Aladin (Carrie) Litzer of Schofield, and Cabot (Gloria) Litzer of Marathon. Lorraine’s daughter Sallee (Gary) Krueger preceded her in death in 2018. Lorraine is also survived by many grandchildren: Jason Krueger of Town of Hewitt, Jeremy (Amy) Krueger of Merrill, Trudi (David) Sturzennger of Town of Hewitt, Christopher Ferge of Rhinelander, Rachel (Andrew) Hughes of Rib Mountain, Alexander Ferge of Eau Claire, Max Ohlmann of Merrill, Sara (Jason) Karcz of Merrill, Justin (Erica) Litzer of Bend, OR, Drew (Margo) Litzer of Bend, OR, Robby (Michelle) Litzer of Beaver Dam, Amy Jo Litzer of Madison, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Lorraine enjoyed this extended family, hosting many special gatherings at her home throughout the years. She was very active and loved the outdoors- playing yard games, gardening, even playing baseball with her children and grandkids. Lorraine was an avid sports fan, recording scores and remarkable players in her notebook, next to her favorite chair. She followed everything from football to tennis, baseball to golf; high-school level to pro. She enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers the most. It was a highlight of her life to attend sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Lorraine was quite the athlete herself, participating in multiple golf and bowling leagues into her 80s. She loved to feed and watch the birds, read, put together puzzles, and play cards. Her home was always a hub of activity and all were welcomed most warmly. Later in life, her brother John would stop in for a visit and the two would often split a Point Special and share a laugh. Lorraine was well known for her quick wit; she often brought smiles and delight to those around her. She is cherished by many and she will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Marshfield Medical Center- Weston Hospital Staff for the wonderful care Lorraine received. We are also incredibly grateful for the hospice care Lorraine received from the Compassus Staff at the end of her life.
