Lester G. Viergutz

Lester "Les" G. Viergutz, 86, Wausau, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born January 30, 1930 in Wausau, son of the late Raymond and Anna (Gritzmacher) Viergutz. In 1954 he married Delores Hartwig in Wausau. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2003. Les served his country in the United States Army and was a professional firefighter retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service. Even when he was off duty he was always there to help anyone in need and was a friend to everyone he met. He also played professional baseball, was a diehard Brewers and Packers fan and an avid golfer. Some of his other hobbies included fishing, hunting and he especially loved spending time up North at the cabin. Survivors include his children, Gregory (Patricia) Viergutz, Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Jill Viergutz, Wausau; grandchildren, Marc Viergutz, Tempe, Arizona and James Viergutz, Tampa, Florida; special furry four legged friend, Samuel; brother, Glen (Carolyn) Viergutz, Wausau; sister, Janet Bush, Hermiston, Oregon, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Delores. Memorial services will be Noon on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Roger Black will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at Immanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial being established.
