Judith "Judy" Hanke

Judith "Judy" A. Hanke, 72, Marathon, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 9, 1941 in Wausau, daughter of the late Edwin and Verna (Wiederhoeft) Zunker. On November 1, 1969 she married Ronald Hanke at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. He survives. In her younger years, Judy worked for Sunnyvale Manor as a caregiver. Judy also played organ in church and had the ability to play music by ear. She enjoyed polka music, dancing and boat rides up North. Judy was a loving homemaker and devoted mother. She was very hard working and spent many years helping her husband in their ginseng gardens. Above all Judy cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Hanke, Marathon; son, Randy (Chris) Hanke, Marathon; daughter, Renee (Dan) Braun, Prescott; grandchildren, Jace and Trey Hanke, and Kennedy and Avery Braun; brother, Russell (Donna) Zunker, Wisconsin Rapids; sisters, Carol (Earl) Wondrash, Arkansas and Cheryl Zunker, Wausau; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Carlton Luedtke and Marvin Hanke. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. Rev. Philip Bogen will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at Trinity Lutheran Church. Entombment will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to personal caregiver, Sally Stubbe, and to the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the wonderful care and compassion given to Judy.
