John R. Habeck, 88, Ringle, died Tuesday June 6, 2017 at Cedar Ridge Elder Services, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born May 6, 1929 in Ringle, son of the late Emil and Leona (Zahn) Habeck. On June 23, 1951, he married Jean Johnson at St. Paul's Evangelical Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death August 12, 2006.
Survivors include three children, Scott (Marcia) Habeck, Cathy (Randy) Marquardt, and Michael (Kathy) Habeck, all of Ringle; his grandchildren, Madonna (Ryan) Enkers, Matt Habeck, Mandy Habeck, Jodi (Brett) McCarthy, Brian (Lindsey) Marquardt and April Habeck and his very special great-grandchildren, Will and Abby McCarthy, Addison and Axel Enkers and Ruben and Darlene Marquardt. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Jeannie and a sister, Verna Bleier.
John lived on the family farm raising beef cattle and also worked at American Can as a tool and die maker. He served on the Ringle Town Board and was Town Chairman for many years. He was on the Ringle Fire Department and was one of the organizers of the infamous Ringle Days.
In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling, trips to the casino, woodworking, snowmobiling, making doll houses, hunting and trapping. He was a member of the Everest green tarp section at football games and never missed the watching and listening to the Packers or the Brewers. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ringle and before that was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Weston, serving on the church council there.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Cedar Ridge Elder Services, Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Dr. Nash, the Mosinee Clinic, the members of Grace Lutheran Church and many relatives, including sister-in-law, Florence Johnson and Barbara Habeck.
Funeral services will be Noon Saturday June 10, 2017 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, R7395 Birch St., Ringle. Rev. Glenn Seefeldt will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
