James M. Krueger

September 18, 1928 — October 29, 2020

Wausau

James M. Krueger, Age 92, a longtime resident of Wausau, WI passed away peacefully in his home on October 29, 2020.  He spent much of in his last 15 years as a resident of New Port Richey, FL, before returning to the Wausau area the last few years.

He was born on September 18, 1928 to the late Martin & Bernice (Litke) Krueger.  Jim was the 2nd of 4 children growing up on the family farm in Merrill, WI.

On July 5th, 1950, Jim was united in marriage to LeeAnn Riege at First English Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI.  LeeAnn preceded him in death on December 5, 2017.   He was an amazing devoted husband for 67 years.

He proudly served on the Wausau Police Department for more than 33 years and was a founding member of the department, retiring in 1984.

In retirement Jim enjoyed being a snowbird with his wife LeeAnn, going back and forth from Wausau to New Port Richey, FL until they took up permanent residence in FL. Throughout his life he never lost his farm life work ethic. He was known for always staying busy.  He enjoyed remodeling and tinkering around the house, even building his own house.  He loved his time up north in Sayner, WI and spending time with family.  He was always up for a card game and was truly a kid at heart.  Jim was a stoic man for the most part but had an infectious giggle.  He was a man of unwavering faith and was known for always looking his best.  It would be hard to find him without his button up shirt and his hair neatly combed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Bernice (Litke) mother and father-in-law Hazel and Harold Riege, one brother Kenneth Krueger, and brother and sister-in-law David and Delores Riege.

Jim is survived by son, Richard (Lynn) Krueger of New Port Richey, FL, daughter, Kerry Krueger of Mosinee, WI; five grandchildren: Jason (Robin) Krueger, Heidi (Tim) Fagre, Brent (Laura) Whiteside, Tia (Jay) Schneider, Kelley (Jason) Goertz; 15 great-grandchildren: Robert, Hazel, James, Isaac, Cooper, Nolan, Benson, Parker, Reid, Savannah, Quinn, Adam, Elizabeth, Tyler, & Olivia, sisters Donna (Mielke) and Bonnie, both of Merrill.

A private memorial service will be held at Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau at a future date to celebrate Jim’s life.  Online condolences and interest in attending the future memorial service may be expressed at www.peterson/kraemer.com or emailed to jimkhomecare@gmail.com
