James Levi Case

James L. Case 85, Schofield, died Tuesday May 27, 2003 at Cedar Ridge Elder Services under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born February 14, 1918 in Brokaw, son of the late F.B. and Emma (Herman) Case. On June 22, 1940 he married April Brown in Wausau. She preceded him in death December 29, 1977. On October 9, 1984 he married Neva (Cater) Helke in Las Vegas. She survives. Prior to his retirement, James had been employed for 45 years with Wausau Paper Mill, Brokaw. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards, feeding the birds and an occaisional trip to the casino. As a veteran of World War II, he served with the US Army in New Guinea and the Phillipines. He was a member of the American Legion, Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. Survivors include his wife, Neva, two daughters, Sue Bednarski, Merrill, Mary (Terry) Prieve, Ringle, a step-son, Eugene (Lois) Helke, Schofield, four grandchildren, Tracy (Jeremy) Windorski, Merrill and their son, Tyler, Paul (Rebecca) Prieve, Wausau and their son, Kurt, Timothy Prieve, Schofield and his daughter, Kassandra, April Prieve, Ringle, three step-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, four brothers, Frank (Mary Ann) Case, Merrill, John (Gladys) Case, Merrill, George (Marie) Case, Ripley, NY, Joseph (Doris) Case, Lake Nokomis, two sisters, Dorothea Case, Merrill and Ruth (Oliver) Lebal, Kennan, a sister-in-law, Aurelia Case, Harvey, ND. Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Louis Bednarski, three brothers, Fred, Fayette and Eugene. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 30, 2003 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Petersonk/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
