Irene R. Jaeger

Irene R. Jaeger, 103, Wausau, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Benedictine Manor, Wausau. She was born June 11, 1913 in Wausau, daughter to the late Charles and Helen (Stanke) Gorectke. On June 19, 1943 she married Lawrence Jaeger at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death. Irene was a homemaker and also worked as a sales associate at JC Penny. She was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and ran Bingo at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing bingo and trips to the casino. Irene was a fantastic baker and above all she cherished time spent with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Janet (Gordon) Vittone and Susan (James) Wadzinski, both of Wausau; five grandchildren, Maria (Steve Woolley) Vittone, Jennifer (Michael) Lagace, Angela Wadzinski, Rebecca (Jason) Schwalbe and Daniel (Kristin) Wadzinski; seven great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Gorectke, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
