Harold "PeeWee" C. Krake
71, Rothschild, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving wife and daughters by his side.
He was born June 23, 1940 in Wausau, son of the late William and Alice (Bleier) Krake. On December 2, 1961, he married Carol Chack at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. They lived a full life of 50 years of marriage.
Harold attended Newman Catholic High School and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild and enjoyed singing in the church choir. For over 47 years, he worked for the Hammerblow Tool Corp., was a former manager of Walter's Armored Car and owned and operated the Rothschild Inn for 35 years.
Harold was formerly a member of the Wausau Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, Explorer Scouts, Auxiliary Police and was a Marathon County Reserve Deputy. Currently, he was a member of U.C.T., the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for many community events.
Harold's lifelong passion was deer hunting. He was an amazing hunter and fisherman and cherished the precious times spent with his wife, girls and gardening with his grandchildren.
Survivors include, his wife, Carol Krake, Rothschild; two daughters, Karla (David) Krake-Childers, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Marcia (Brad) Kita, Schofield; two grandsons, Michael and Thomas Kita; one step-grandson, Matthew (Jennifer) Childers; two step-great granddaughters, Emily and Allyson Childers; four sisters, Netta (Norbert) Kraimer, Wausau, Ruth Thompson, Wausau, Betty (Russ) Wiskowski, Weston and Carol "Janie" (Jim) Gill, Wauwatosa; one brother, Dave (Pat) Krake, Weston; one brother-in-law, Eddie Busko, Weston; one sister-in-law, Donna Hoffman, Shreveport, La.; and many nieces, nephews and numerous lifelong friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Busko; two brothers, Frank "Sonny" Krake and Benjamin "Benji" Krake; one brother-in-law, Jack Thompson; one sister-in-law, Lois Wysocki; and his father and mother-in-law, Felix and Ella Chack.
Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Deacon Leroy Knauf will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter at a later date.
