Grace M. Poeske

Grace M. Poeske 73, Wausau, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Cedar Creek Manor following a brave battle with multiple sclerosis, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born February 1, 1935 in Wausau, daughter of the late Ervin and Bertha (Peters) Poeske. Grace was a 1953 graduate of Wausau Senior High School. In her younger years, she worked for Wilson-Hurd Manufacturing Company, Wausau and retired from Greenheck Fan Corp. after 26 years of employment. Grace taught C.C.D. classes at the former St. Mary Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Mary Adult Choir. Among her many interests, she enjoyed bowling in the K.C. bowling league, music, flower gardening, playing the piano, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and Milwaukee Brewer fan. Survivors include, two sisters, Alice Steckling, Wausau and Lucille (Wallace) Sonnentag, Wausau; seven nieces and nephews, Scott (Tammy) Steckling, Wausau, Michael (Dena) Steckling, Wausau, Jeffrey (Angie Wanta) Steckling, Weston, Craig Steckling, Schofield, Lynn (Mark) Gajewski, Rib Mountain, Christine (Thomas) Maier, Green Bay and Mark (Cathleen) Sonnentag, Waukesha; and many great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Nancy Poeske; and one brother-in-law, Arnold Steckling. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Grace's name may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
