Grace M. Omernik

Grace M. Omernik 85, Weston, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at home surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer. Grace was born October 17, 1925 in Weston, daughter of the late John and Martha (Gorski) Gorecki. On April 27, 1946 she married Jerome Omernik at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. He preceded her in death. Grace enjoyed her simple Christian life doing things for and with her family. Survivors include her children, David (Jean) Omernik, Antigo, Connie (Stan) Budleski, Weston, Sue (Dean) Teske, Wausau, Sally (Gary) Olson, Mosinee, Lori (Mark) Shilts, Weston, Lynn (Gary) Soczka, Weston and Tina (Steve) Steinke, Birnamwood; grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Omernik, Sarah Omernik, Mary (Joey) Ninnemann, Kelly (Paul) Spaay, Stacie (Jeff) Gregori, Danyle (Jamie) Lester, Gina (Lee) Burmeister, Christopher (Amanda) Olson, Cathy (Bert) Pieper, Karen Olson, Corey (Sera Bakovka) Shilts, Daniel (Courtney DeKoch) Shilts, Derek Soczka, Evan Soczka, Justin (Rhonda Schultz) Steinke and Stephanie (Doug) Anderson; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Leona Zell, Rothschild and Jeanette Staszak, Weston. Besides her parents and husband, Jerome, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marcie Thiel, two brothers, Frank and Leonard Gorecki and four sisters, Genevieve Green, Angeline Sickler, Eleanore Gauerke and Winifred Radandt. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
