Esther Brzezinski
90, Wausau, died Monday February 16, 2009, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Roger Carr.
She was born February 10, 1919, in Galloway, daughter of the late Joseph and Susan (Zwicki) Stankowski. On November 19, 1934, she married Frank Brzezinski in Rosholt. He preceded her in death February 16, 1992.
All of Esther's family gathered on February 10th & 14th to celebrate her 90th birthday. The day was very special for her and heartfelt thanks go out to Duane Burclaw, her nephew and god-son for the concertina playing which made the event top notch for Esther.
For many years, Esther was a cook at the former Pine Bar and Restaurant. Esther was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church, belonged to their Rosary Confraternity and the Ministry of Praise. Among her favorite things to do were playing cards and being a loyal fan of the Packers, Brewers and Cubs.
Survivors include her children, James (Mary Jo) Brzezinski, West Bend, and their children, Annie Kula and Patrick; Donald (Julie) Brzezinski, Wausau, and their son, Dean; Ernest Brzezinski, Columbus, Ohio, and his sons, Ryan and Derick; Thomas (Joan) Brzezinski, Weston, and daughter, Lynda King; Michael (Lori) Brzezinski, Rothschild, and their son, Adam; Donna (Roger) Carr, Weston, and their sons, Randal and Rocket;and Linda Brzezinski, Portage, eight great grandchildren, three sisters, Lorraine Jozwiak, Michigan, Irene Landowski, Schofield, Caroline Clarkowski, Wausau, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace, a great grandson, Briten, a daughter-in-law, Marcia Brzezinski, five brothers, Clarence, Louie, Tony, Felix and Hubert and three sisters, Alice, Regina and Sadie.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday February 20, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch and Rev. Hillary Brzezinski O.F.M. Cap. will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Adam & Dean Brzezinski, Randal Carr and Lynda King.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Michael Parish, 611 Stark St., Wausau, WI 54403 or to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau, WI 54401. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the wonderful care given to Esther.
