Elizabeth “Beth” A. Allman, 89, town of Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Sylvan Crossings, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born July 3, 1935 in Antigo, daughter of the late Glen and Margaret (Schisel) Thorn. On November 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Donald Allman at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2010.
For many years, Beth worked at Connor’s Cabinet in Wausau and retired from Wausau West High School where she worked in food service. She was a member of the North Texas Homemakers and served two terms as President for the Marathon County Homemakers. Beth was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the St. Michael PCCW.
Christmas was Beth’s favorite time of year making candy, baking, decorating, making dozens of Christmas stockings and celebrating with family and friends. She loved to crochet and knit and made hundreds of mittens for the children of the Wausau School District, many hats and blankets for the newborns at the hospital and many blankets for family and friends.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include six children Kathy Koehler, Sue (Barry) Zastrow, John (Paulette) Allman, Joe (Cheryl) Allman, Rick Allman and Judy (Dale Wittwer) Allman; daughter-in-law, Jean Allman; eleven grandchildren, Nathan (Kelly) Zastrow, Matt (Jaclyn) Zastrow, Erin (Lucas) Geiger, Eric (Megan) Koehler, Emily (Evan) Thomas, Cody Koval, Amanda (Michael) Martell, Joshua (Kallie) Allman, Kallie Grady, Jason (Kara) Allman and Chris (David) Byers-Allman; 14 great grandchildren; two siblings, Carol Gajewski and Bob (Margie) Thorn; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Jerry; two sons, Jeff and Tom; son-in-law, Dave Koehler; and three siblings, Helen Walters and Jack and James Thorn.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Laurie for the loving care you gave to “My Beth” and also to the staff at Sylvan Crossings for their outstanding care of Beth over the past 2 ½ years, and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their care and compassion.
