Barbara E. Fletcher

Barbara Ellen Fletcher, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Barb was born on February 3, 1942 in Wausau, daughter of the late Lyle and Verna (Stark) Fletcher. Barb was a 1960 graduate of Wausau High School, and was employed after graduation at Employers Mutual of Wausau. In September of 1963 she entered Gale Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota to train for employment in the airline industry. Upon graduation from Gale she moved to Chicago to accept a job with Eastern Airlines. She remained with Eastern Airlines for 28 years. When Eastern closed in 1991 she was manager of baggage service at O’Hare Airport.

Barb left the travel industry and remained in Chicago. She worked at Forest Park Currency Exchange and at Schumacher Battery. She returned to the travel industry and worked at Ryan Travel Agency until she retired in 2006.

Barb enjoyed a lot of local, national and international travel, especially get-a-ways to Florida with her relatives and many friends. She had a special love for Ireland and traveled there many times. Her last big travel adventure was a Mediterranean cruise.

Upon retirement Barb returned to Wausau and enjoyed her time back home with her family, many cousins, high school friends and other lifelong friends. Barb had Parkinson’s disease which slowed her down but she still enjoyed countless activities and friendships.

Barbara is survived by her brother, Robert Fletcher (Kristine Buehler) who also resides in Wausau. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Social distancing guidelines will be observed as well as face coverings required for all whom attend.  Services will be live streamed on Facebook, or for later viewing at www.petersonkraemer.com.
