Andrew James Kaldunski, 25, of Marathon, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home, after a three year courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born on September 6, 1989 in Wausau, and is the son of Robert and Carol (Volhard) Kaldunski.
Andrew attended St. Mary School and was a 2008 graduate of Marathon High School. In 2011 he completed an internship in computer science at Harvard University and in 2012 he graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Ripon College. After graduation he was employed by Sentry Insurance as a Software Engineer.
Baseball was a passion of Andrew's and he was a member of the 2008 Marathon High School State Baseball Championship team, Ripon College's baseball team, and played with the Abbotsford Merchants of the Dairyland League. He always enjoyed tinkering with and building computers and other electronic devices. Some of his other hobbies included woodworking, brewing beer, playing volleyball, skiing, and snowmobiling.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Robert and Carol Kaldunski, Marathon; brother, Brian (Elizabeth) Kaldunski, Marathon; niece and godchild, Anna Kaldunski; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Donna Kaldunski, Marathon; maternal grandfather, Edwin Jr. (Arlene) Volhard, Marathon; aunts and uncles, Korey (Barb) Kaldunski, Athens, Douglas (Ellen) Kaldunski, Athens, James (Wanda) Volhard, Mosinee, and Jean (Douglas) Kage, Marathon; cousins, Tarrah (Anthony) Bennish, Briah Kaldunski, Kenya Kaldunski, Kole Kaldunski, Teresa Volhard, Matthew (Jacalyn Garton) Volhard, Ryan (Amanda) Kage, and Craig (Mary) Kage.
Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Anna Mae Volhard.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Lori Schutte at Aspirus Marathon Clinic and Dr. Joon Uhm at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for all of the compassionate concern and care given to Andrew during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
