Ruth F. Ziegel, 84, of Wausau passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, after a short illness, on Monday, February 11, 2019, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born November 29, 1934, in the town of Frankfort, daughter of the late August and Albina (Loskot) Giese. On September 6, 1958, she married Ervin Ziegel Jr., and together recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Ruth worked for Marathon Electric before transitioning to homemaking and housekeeping. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wausau. For 49 years, she was a member of the Trailmates Snowmobile Club and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Wausau.
Her favorite pastimes included bird-watching, baking, and gardening.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ervin, and their two daughters, Lori (husband Mike) and their son, Joe, and Sherri (partner Mark); her sister, Ethel; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Imogene, Janice, Florence and Jerry, Ken and Bev, Rosie and Dave; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra; sister, LaVerna; brother, Leonard; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Wally, Wyman and Isabelle, Elton and Carol, Ivan, Carl, and Eugene.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Ken Albers will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ruth’s name.
The family would like to thank all those who helped to care and support Ruth and her family during her illness.
