Ruth B. Prahl, 93, town of Easton, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 24, 2019.
She was born August 17, 1926 in Wausau, daughter of the late August and Bertha (Glawe) Banik. On October 26, 1946, she married Warren Prahl in Wausau. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2009.
Ruth enjoyed her role as a homemaker, farmer’s wife and mother of eight children. She was a longtime member of St John's Lutheran Church, and the LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League). She and her late husband were active participants in Laborers for Christ helping to build/remodel churches across the U.S. for many years. Ruth also volunteered her time transcribing Sunday School lessons into Braille. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed playing games, including, Scrabble, Cribbage, Uno and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include, seven children, Robert (Mary Jo) Prahl, Wausau, Richard (Patsy) Prahl, Wausau, Randall (Debbie) Prahl, Berlin, Geraldine “Geri” Luer, Wausau, Joan (Harvey) Retzack, Wausau, Georgette “Gigi” (Mark) Koenig, Chippewa Falls and Russell (Holly) Prahl, Wausau; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Darlene Prahl, Fern Banik and Viola Banik.
Besides her parents and husband, Warren, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Prahl; and her siblings, William Banik, Arnold Banik, Ida Sahr, Lydia Schauss, Herbert Banik and Margaret Prahl.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church, 164923 County Road Z (Town of Easton) Wausau. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the church.
