Michael E. Mais

Michael E. Mais 49, died on Monday August 19, 2019 from cancer at Aspirus hospital, surrounded by his family and his wife holding his hand. He was born April 12, 1970, in Wausau, the son of Valray and Suzanne (Clark) Mais.

Mike graduated from Marathon High School in 1988. Soon after graduation, he went to work at Kolbe & Kolbe for 23 years then worked at Kraft foods until his death. Mike had many things he loved to do. He had a passion for riding his Harley, his ATV, fast cars, and pretty much anything with wheels. He enjoyed doing anything that included the outdoors, such as camping and yardwork. Mike also had an interest in antiques and art. In 2010, he met the love of his life, Melinna (Sturm) Mais. Once together, Mike was determined to see the world and started to travel as often as possible. They married on 07/07/17 in Las Vegas. Mike had many, many friends and touched the hearts of everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife, Melinna; his Step-children, Barbera, Britney, and Shane Jr; his fur babies, Whiskey and Peanut; his mother, Suzanne; his sisters, Sherry and Sara; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Val.

A special thanks to the staff at Aspirus ICU for the care he received on his last day.

A memorial and sharing of memories will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave, Wausau. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
