Joseph “Joe” C. Huber, 72, Wausau, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 27, 2018 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born December 14, 1945 in Wausau, son of Bernadine (Wendlick) Huber-Dallman of Wausau and the late Clarence Huber. Joe attended grade school at Holy Name Catholic School, where he met his future wife, and graduated from Wausau High School. On June 11, 1966, he married Janice Engelman at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Joe worked as a salesman for over 50 years in the office supply business from 1965 until his retirement. He was a member of the Rib Mountain Bowmen from 1961 until 2018, and was on the Board for over 18 years and President for four years. Joe really enjoyed shooting his recurve bow and hunting with it. One of his best enjoyments was working with all the kids and teaching them how to shoot a bow. Joe was also a member of the Wisconsin Bow Hunters and the WTA (Wisconsin Traditional Archers). He also loved to hunt, fish and take his wife, Janice for pontoon rides on the lake.
Joe loved to spend time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events, and loved to eat at Sam’s Pizza. He volunteered throughout the community and won an award in 2010 for his volunteer work with the Badger State Games for Archery.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 52 years, Janice Huber, Wausau; two sons, James (Karen) Huber, Weston and Jeffrey (Christine) Huber, Menasha; four grandchildren, Sydney, Jaxon, Jamison and Brianna Huber; his mother, Bernadine Dallman, Wausau; two sisters, Carol (Pat) Betts, Wausau and Virginia (Tom) Klimek, Wausau; two brothers, John (Lynell) Huber, Wausau and Richard Huber, Wausau; one brother-in-law, Robert (Sue) Engelman, Mosinee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Peter Kieffer will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial being established in Joe’s name.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Dr. Haque and the staff at the Cancer Center and all of the family and friends who were so caring and supportive during Joe’s illness.
