John Stubbe, 52, Wausau, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born June 20, 1966 in Wausau, son of Edward and Margaret (Mroczenski) Stubbe of Wausau. On August 12, 1989, he married Christine Wiesner in Appleton. She survives.
John was a 1984 graduate of Wausau West High School. He currently was co-owner and operator of T & E Tree Surgery, Inc., Wausau. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed attending music concerts, golfing, fishing (especially his Canada fishing trips with his brother and friends), and spending time with his family and friends, whether it was going up to the family cottage or hanging out in the backyard enjoying cookouts and campfires. He was a member of the Wausau Curling Club and a Youth Softball Coach. During his coaching years, John had the privilege of coaching his daughter and team at the Babe Ruth World Series held in New Jersey.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 29 years, Chris Stubbe, Wausau; three children, Ashley Stubbe (Brandon Bushey) Wausau, Jeremy Stubbe (Katie Brossard) Janesville and Nick Stubbe (Morgan Treu), Wausau; his parents, Edward and Margaret; his mother-in-law, Irma Wiesner, Menasha; three siblings, Jeff (Becky) Stubbe, Wausau, Jane Sharma, Orlando, FL and Jill Sickler (Rick Matz) Ringle; two brothers-in-law, Dar (Brenda) Wiesner, Kaukauna and Dan (Lucia) Wiesner, DePere; six nieces and nephews, Brad, Amber, Michael, Alan, Grace and Katie; and his “Brother” Eric Betts, Wausau.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Stubbe; and his father-in-law, Bill Wiesner.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A celebration of John’s life will continue at 5:00 p.m. with food and drinks at Trails End, 3901 Sherman Road, Wausau.
Memorials may be directed to John’s family to go toward future scholarship funds.
