Jean Brzezinski Obituary

Jean J. Brzezinski, 87, Wausau, died unexpectedly Tuesday October 9, 2018 at her home. Jean was born August 12, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Alexander and Wanda (Glodoski) Peplinski. She was raised in Amherst, WI where she attended a one room school. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1949. Jean & her 6 siblings enjoyed many happy times playing and working at the family’s supper club, Pep’s Café on the Tomorrow River. She moved to Wausau and earned her RN degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1954. She enjoyed the majority of her nursing career taking care of babies in the Newborn Nursery. She married Robert Brzezinski in Amherst in 1954 and they were blessed with 6 children.

Jean liked spending time with friends at the former American Legion and a trip to the casino was always welcomed. She was a night owl who enjoyed crocheting & was an avid reader. She was extremely generous, loved her family was especially proud to be called Busha by her grandchildren. Jean had a very strong faith, saying the rosary daily. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan.

Survivors include five children, Barbe (Roman) Murkowski, Madison, Karen (Richard) Gugel, Waunakee, Nancy (Steve Hodges) Brzezinski, Madison, Robert “Rob” Brzezinski, Schofield and Joy (Bob Karls), Middleton; eight grandchildren, Luke and Sarah Gugel, Christopher and Jordan Brzezinski, Alexis, Cassidy and Ian Ruchti and Victor Murkowski; three great-grandchildren, Ayden, Chloe and Logan and siblings: Sister Jeanette Peplinski (Green Bay), Bob Peplinski (Big Bend) and Annette Horvath (Green Bay). In-laws: Cheryl Peplinski, Sally Peplinski, Mary Jane Fayyaz, Paul Brzezinski and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bob Brzezinski of 61 years, daughter Judy & siblings Delores, Alex and Sister Clairann.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 15, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce will preside. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Peterson Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
