Elmer “Root” Bornheimer, 80, of Weston, passed away at Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital, Sunday, October 28, 2018 with loved ones by his side.
Mr. Bornheimer was born February 24, 1938, in Wausau, Wisconsin to Leo and Regina (Brzezinski) Bornheimer. He married Theresa (Soczka) Bornheimer on June 7, 1969. She survives.
Root was employed with Stratford Builders as carpenter foreman for 47 years retiring in 2002. He also built a successful multi-unit property business, which he especially enjoyed maintaining in his later years.
He enjoyed travel, watching the Packers and a good polka dance. Over the years he traveled extensively with his wife to many locales in Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. He also loved spending time with friends and extended family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Theresa Bornheimer of Weston; daughter, Tracie Bornheimer; son, Tyler Bornheimer (Carl Johnson); eleven siblings, Bernard (the late Pat), Norman (Phyllis), Leo Jr. (Jean), Eileen, Leonard, Cecelia (Duane Felzkowski), Harvey (Ione), Audrey (Dale Hoffman), James (Carolyn), Dennis (June), and Linda (Rick Coe); and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place prior to the funeral service from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 113 Kort St, Rothschild. Rev. Louis Britto will preside. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cassel.
