Delores S. Kersten, 88, Wausau, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Rennes Health and Rehab, Weston, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She was born December 19, 1928 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Gorski) Stoltz. On October 4, 1947, she married Robert G. Kersten at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1995.

For 20 years, Delores worked at the Ben Franklin store in Wausau and then moved to Rhinelander with her husband Robert, and worked at the Rhinelander Ben Franklin store for about 10 years. Following Robert’s death, she moved back to Wausau to be with her children. Among her favorite pastimes, Delores enjoyed yardwork and pontooning.

Survivors include, three children, Karen (Curly) Meuret, Bethany Kersten and Robert R. (Mary) Kersten, all of Wausau; two grandchildren, Gerald (Krystal) Wergin, Neenah and Kersten Weber, Milwaukee; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian (Ronald) Gauger, Sturgeon Bay; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Chuck Wergin; one brother, Stanley Stoltz; and one sister, Phyllis Bartelt.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab, the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and Dr. Brian Smith for the wonderful care and support given to Delores.
